Byron Bite is a food and wine festival based in Byron Bay. The client asked that I avoid using any food or wine cliches. Therefore, I decided to represent food and wine through the blotched pattern. The blotches represent the mess left on a plate after enjoying a tasty meal. The pattern is bright and colourful to represent Byron’s diverse culture and creative community. Pastels were selected to colour the pattern to create a contemporary feel and playful maturity. I created hand typography to capture the relaxed atmosphere of Byron, the freedom associated with the town and create a lack of conformity, which is quintessential Byron.
